- Hello and welcome to the Bridge Studio 2010 Blog! Here you will be able to follow Iowa State University Design students as they work collaboratively with the City of Corning, Iowa to develop a design for an affordable and sustainable single family home. Though the studio is only designing one home for one site, the hope is to create a model home that can then be applied to multiple sites within the community of Corning, and possibly throughout the state. We heavily encourage you to leave comments on the work below each post, as we hope the blog will generate democratic, cooperative, and interdisciplinary discussion.
Alpha House Comments:
ReplyDelete-Windows may be too expensive (30% glazing)
-Would like a wider stair (4')
-Concerned about roof cost but could do with attic truss plus dormer
-Didn’t like the distance from master bed to bath
-Central wall in basement is good because of need for central structure to hold up floor
-Liked green siding
-Flexible for expansion
-Some wanted ability to close off top floor to reduce heating
