I like the Beta plan. It has less hallway space. It has the kitchen on the west end of the house, next to the garage. The bathroom is assessable from the bedrooms without having to go through the house to get to it.
I also like the roof design you state can be used for all designs. I do not like the slanted roof. I too think it looks like a chicken coop.
Hello and welcome to the Bridge Studio 2010 Blog! Here you will be able to follow Iowa State University Design students as they work collaboratively with the City of Corning, Iowa to develop a design for an affordable and sustainable single family home. Though the studio is only designing one home for one site, the hope is to create a model home that can then be applied to multiple sites within the community of Corning, and possibly throughout the state.
We heavily encourage you to leave comments on the work below each post, as we hope the blog will generate democratic, cooperative, and interdisciplinary discussion.
House Beta Comments:
ReplyDelete-Shed roof saves money by not having trusses (looks cheap however)
-Looks like a chicken coop
-Scrapping the second floor to make house wider is more expensive but less steps is a plus
-Good solar exposure (too much without awnings)
